Basketball Wives Season 3

The third season of "Basketball Wives" is back Monday on VH1, and while some players might be afraid about what the ladies will say, the queen bee of the cast (which includes wives, ex-wives, girlfriends and ex-girlfriends) Shaunie O'Neal, says," it's all in good fun and nothing is changing."

"Along with our normal drama you'll get to dip into the ladies personal lives a little more," said O'Neal, who executive produces and stars on the series. "More kids, you'll get to meet some of the ladies parents and hear their story a little more. It becomes a little more personal this season."

O'Neal's function on the show has become that of a peacemaker while the other ladies duke it out and at times throw punches. Yes, actual punches. In last season's finale a fight started between Antoine Walker's ex-fiancée Evelyn Lozada and Kenny Anderson's ex-wife Tami Roman.

Highlights of Episode 3: Tami Roman pops off after discovering out she's the inspiration behind a new t-shirt line that declares, "You Are a Non F***N Factor B*tch." Jennifer Williams is eventually serving up divorce papers and somewhere in between we'll see Chad Ochocinco and Evelyn Lozada making visits to the fertility clinic to try to have twins.

Tune in to VH1 on May 30 8P/7C to see "Basketball Wives Episode 3" for these ladies in full effect.

Vitamin D : For The Treatment Of Overweighting.

Since overweight and weighty women are at risk for chronic diseases and be given to have less-than-optimal levels of vitamin D, Dr. Caitlin Mason, Ph.D., research fellow at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center required to know if fat menopausal women could increase their vitamin D blood levels with weight loss. It turns out those who lost more than 15 percent of their body weight experienced notable increases in the fat-soluble vitamin D.

"Since vitamin D is generally lower in persons with obesity, it is possible that low vitamin D could account, in part, for the link between obesity and diseases such as cancer, heart disease and diabetes," said Mason, the paper's leading author, published online in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. "Determining whether weight loss helps change vitamin D status is important for understanding potential avenues for disease prevention."

The year-long study - one of the largest ever conducted to measure the outcome of weight loss on vitamin D - involved 439 overweight-to-obese, sedentary, postmenopausal Seattle-area women, ages 50 to 75, who were indiscriminately assigned to one of four groups: exercise only, diet only, exercise plus diet and no intervention.

According to the National Institutes of Health, vitamin D plays many crucial roles in the body. It increases calcium absorption and is required for bone growth and bone healing. Along with calcium, vitamin D helps protect older adults from osteoporosis and youngsters from rickets.

The Vitamin D also influences cell growth, neuromuscular and immune function, and lessen the inflammation. Many gene-encoding proteins that influence cell proliferation, differentiation, and programmed cell death necessary to prevent cancer are modulated in part by the vitamin.

Sahara Can Produce Electricity For Entire World

The on-going tempestuousness in Arab world has pushed the Desertec Foundation's projects into limits of uncertainness. The project of Desertec Foundation is a typical green energy project whose basic object is to produce electricity from burning sunshine of Sahara desert. The approximated cost of this project is around $566 billion, but its study work is still in its initial stages. Study on the project was started after a report justified that only few fractional parts of the total Sahara Desert can produce electricity for whole world.

Future of this energy production project has gone in uncertainties. Some experts are claiming that the democratic governments, if they come in Arab World, will take this project more earnestly than the current dictatorships. But most experts frightened that the ongoing tempestuousness in Africa will take a long time to settle. Desertec might have gotten the label of 21st century's mega project for energy production in 2011. But many critics have started to point out that Desertec project is dead due to political and social unrests of African countries.

Desertec Project was researched and organised by Germans - German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) has completed most of its research. Scientists of this institute all the same have hopes in future of project as Kirsten Swestphal; an energy expert of institute has said that she is thinking in the inverse direction. She thought that the pro-democracy governments would bring stableness in the economy of region. As democratic governments would be backed by civilians, they would take this project more earnestly. So project is not dead according to her.

Danica Patrick: Indy 500 Results

Danica Patrick took a late lead at the Indy 500 and needed fuel concerns to resolve themselves to have a chance at taking the checkered flag and it came about for the second time in her IndyCar career,. And just like in 2005, Patrick's 2011 Indy 500 ran out of fuel a little too soon, leaving her with a 10th-place finish.

Patrick's day was a dull drive to the front at first. She dealt with slowly wearing her car into tip-top shape and picking off drivers one by one through the first three quarters of the race, and in the end moved into the teens in the later goings. That only led to more Indy 500 thwarting for the series' most renowned driver.

Patrick's team adventured on a fuel-conservation strategy by roughness on Lap 159 and hoping for two things: enough green flag racing for Patrick's car to retrieve the form that had her running strong late, and a caution to give Patrick a chance to fill up before the finish. She got the former, and led 10 laps after taking the lead with 20 laps to go. But Patrick couldn't stop in front of Bertrand Baguette as her fuel drained, and in the end had to pit.

That last stop left her racing to make the top 10 - which she did, at 10th, giving her six top-10 finishes at the Indy 500 in seven starts. But for Patrick, who appeared to be in every other commercial during the race, consistency isn't a problem; she's long proven that she can contend on the IndyCar circuit when her cars are strong.

The issue is that the big breakthrough victory at the race she dreamed of capturing as a child continues to circumvent her. And while her public arguments about staying in IndyCar while learning NASCAR-style stock car racing are all well and good, continued fights to stand out in open-wheel racing will only fuel more discussion about whether she's not long for it.

Delta Jet Blows Tire During The Landing in Atlanta

The pilot of a Delta jet that blew a tire and then caught fire as it landed in Atlanta today is being tributed with getting the plane through it with no severe wounds to any of the passengers on board.

Delta Flight 2284, an MD88, blew at least one tire on landing after arrival at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport from Pittsburgh in the present day, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

The tire burst caused the landing gear to catch fire, and the plane surged burn as it came to a halt on the runway.

When the fire department had the fire out, travelers were bused to terminal, the FAA said.

Only three people suffered small injuries, which the FAA said may have took place when they left plane.

"When we landed we could tell something was little off," passenger Peter Gitnik of Beaver, Pa., said "Pilot did a great job. It looked like the tire was on fire. It seemed really under control though. I think there were some minor scrapes but I'm not sure."

Kitty

One of the CIA's most flakey Cold War campaigns was Operation Acoustic Kitty. In confidential documents from the CIA's super-secret Science and Technology Directorate, it was exposed that some Cold-War-era cats were surgically altered to become advanced bugging devices. The idea was that the cats would listen in on Soviet negotiation from park benches, windowsills and garbage containers. The cat was meant to just stroll up to the sensitive conversations, entirely unnoticed. The clandestine cat's electrical internals would then capture and relay the audio to awaiting agents.

The project was begun in 1961. Former CIA officer Victor Marchetti narrates the story of the Acoustic Kitty:
"They slit the cat open, put batteries in him, and wired him up. The tail was used as an antenna. They made a monstrosity. They tested him and tested him. They found he would walk off the job when he got hungry, so they put another wire in to override that. Finally, they're ready. They took it out to a park bench and said, "Listen to those two guys. Don't listen to anything else - not the birds, no cat or dog - just those two guys!"

After several surgeries and hard training, the cyborg cat was ready for its first ground test. The CIA inserted the cat to a Soviet compound on Wisconsin Avenue in Washington, D.C., and let him out of a parked van across the street. The cat ambled into the road, and was struck by a taxi almost instantly. Five years of attempt and over $15 million in spending were resulted to roadkill in a moment. Shorty after its death a CIA operative returned to the site of accident and put the cat's remaining parts into a container to prevent the Soviets from getting their paws on the sensitive and expensive listening devices.

Operation Acoustic Kitty was completely desolated in 1967, and declared an complete failure. Perhaps due to their awkward nature, the documents describing Acoustic Kitty remain partially censored even today. But one document does congratulate the Acoustic Kitty team for their efforts:
"The work done on this problem over the years reflects great credit on the personnel who guided it, particularly (censored), whose energy and imagination could be models for scientific pioneers."

While the memo says that the use of trained cats is possible, it also says that "the environmental and security factors in using this technique in a real foreign situation force us to conclude that for our (intelligence) purposes, it would not be practical."
