Reports say that the Cleveland Clinic has produced a vaccine that is 100% efficient against breast cancer. Though, the vaccine has not been used on humans but in the lab, it gave 100% results thus, scientists were speculating that the vaccine could be used on humans as well. The vaccine can be used on women over the age of 40 but for that scientists need confirmation that it would not hurt women’s breast cells. This, indeed, can prove a big step in the cure of a disease which is very drastic and fatal and which eliminates all strategies very efficiently.
Dr. Vincent Tuohy, who is leading researcher, said that he was hopeful that one day this vaccine would be used in the adult women for the prevention of the disease in the same way as we use vaccines to prevent children from childhood diseases. But there is a big hurdle in this respect. The vaccines and medicines which prove effective in the lab tests tend to loss their efficiency when uses on humans.
Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America reports that only one out of 250 drugs which are proved effective on a particular disease prove effective on humans and except this, all others proved garbage.
This above mentioned vaccine was experimented against a protein called alpha-lactalbumin. This protein finds on many breast cancer cells. In mice, they vaccinated this protein and then allow it to grow breast cancer. The results showed that none of the 50 vaccinated mice proteins developed cancer.
