Michael Grimm

In a red-meat endorsement of Republican congressional hopeful Michael Grimm, former Mayor Rudy Giuliani said last night that Democratic Rep. Michael McMahon has been "neutered" by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and said McMahon's vote against the health care reform bill should not be a reason for Staten Islanders to support him for re-election this fall.
"He didn't vote for it -- so what?" Giuliani told some 200 Grimm supporters at a fundraiser in New Dorp. "He cast the one vote for which you should throw him out of Congress. He voted for Nancy Pelosi. He has been completely neutered. So what good is he?"
But McMahon shrugged off Giuliani's remarks when called for comment, saying, "I think the man who tried to give this country Bernie Kerik as our Homeland Security secretary should take a break from endorsements."
Giuliani, a failed presidential candidate, also accused the Obama administration of turning the country into a "European social democracy," and said "the only people who can go to Washington are people who are warriors, who are tough."
Grimm is a former Gulf War veteran and FBI agent.
