Sahara Can Produce Electricity For Entire World

The on-going tempestuousness in Arab world has pushed the Desertec Foundation's projects into limits of uncertainness. The project of Desertec Foundation is a typical green energy project whose basic object is to produce electricity from burning sunshine of Sahara desert. The approximated cost of this project is around $566 billion, but its study work is still in its initial stages. Study on the project was started after a report justified that only few fractional parts of the total Sahara Desert can produce electricity for whole world.

Future of this energy production project has gone in uncertainties. Some experts are claiming that the democratic governments, if they come in Arab World, will take this project more earnestly than the current dictatorships. But most experts frightened that the ongoing tempestuousness in Africa will take a long time to settle. Desertec might have gotten the label of 21st century's mega project for energy production in 2011. But many critics have started to point out that Desertec project is dead due to political and social unrests of African countries.

Desertec Project was researched and organised by Germans - German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) has completed most of its research. Scientists of this institute all the same have hopes in future of project as Kirsten Swestphal; an energy expert of institute has said that she is thinking in the inverse direction. She thought that the pro-democracy governments would bring stableness in the economy of region. As democratic governments would be backed by civilians, they would take this project more earnestly. So project is not dead according to her.
