Kristy Lee Cook got her start on reality show American Idol, and now the country singer has another shot at fame with her new reality series Goin' Country. The show premiered this weekend on Versus, and features her struggle to get a record deal -- along with her on a series of hunting trips, according to Fox.

She's been hunting for 6 years and apparently is quite good. She took down a black bear that had been getting into her horse barn in Eagle Point, Oregon last month. “That bear had been causing trouble for five nights, eating grain and spooking my horses. He was making a mess of the whole barn,” Cook said. “One night I was walking in the house and I saw something standing in the door of my barn and I got him in one shot.”

There are 8 episodes in the series, and each will feature a different kind of hunt: In Kansas she hunts pheasants, in Wisconsin she got her first black bear, and Missouri is where she does a tough turket hunt. Along the way, she's joined by friends and family, and even another former Idol hopeful, Blake Lewis.

“I’m hoping that people will see the hunts as a chance to hang with family and friends and share an experience. It’s so much fun in the outdoors and when you harvest something for the meat it really means much more than just going out to the grocery store and buying it,” she said.
