ESPN’s Jay Mariotti arrested for domestic violence, held on bail

ESPN sports panelist and columnist Jay Mariotti has been reportedly arrested for domestic violence and is held on $50,000 bail in Los Angeles. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s website, Jay Mariotti was booked and processed at 4:30 a.m.

ESPN has not released a comment regarding the arrest. Jay Mariotti writes a column for Fanhouse (formerly AOL Sports) and began writing columns with the Detroit News in the early 1980’s. He also wrote for the Denver Post and the Chicago Sun Times as well.
According to the Associated Press, Mariotti was arrested on felony charges. Mariotti, 51, was arrested early Saturday morning over a "domestic dispute". Bail is being held at $50,000.

According to the LA Times, Mariotti got in an argument with girlfriend at a club in Santa Monica. According to the Times, Mariotti got in a physical altercation with his girlfriend. He was arrested at his apartment.
