Koman Coulibaly

If you are a soccer (or footbol) fan, then you know about FIFA and their controversial system of explaining calls made in a game. Simply put, there is no system and they don't have to explain anything. Which is exactly what Koman Coulibaly, the ref who called a foul on what would've likely been a game winning goal for the US, is doing. For no apparent reason, Coulibaly disallowed the goal off Maurice Edu's foot. FIFA has released a statement saying that Coulibaly has "no comment." Well thanks a lot for that. Because of a call that will probably never be explained, the game ended in a draw instead of a victory for the US.

We all saw the fallout of Jim Joyce's blown call that cost Armando Gallaraga a perfect game, and the reaction from fans was positive. Nobody's perfect, and we understand that more than anyone as Americans I think. By not commenting, Coulibaly is only making things worse on himself. If he would come out and either explain the call (which never should have happened) and/or simply apologize, I think a lot of people would just move on.
