LeAnn Rimes is talking for the first time about her double-marriage-destroying affair with Eddie Cibrian, telling People that she takes responsibility for what she did -- was there any question about that -- but that she doesn't regret the outcome. As to why the country singer is suddenly speaking out about her infidelity more than a year after Usmagazine.com broke the news, well, she's got a new single out!
Cibrian, who stars on "CSI: Miami," and Rimes were filmed enjoying a romantic dinner at a Los Angeles restaurant together while she was married to Dean Sheremet, a former backup dancer, and Cibrian was wed to Brandi Glanville, with whom he has two children. They appeared to break up for a time, but soon came reports that that Rimes was stalking Cibrian, and then rumors of more rendezvous. Both couples split up last summer, and Cibrian and Rimes took their romance public in August. Just last week, Rimes reportedly asked for a cease and desist order against Cibrian's estranged wife for slandering her to the press.
Rimes and Cibrian got close on the set of their TV movie "Northern Lights" in November 2008, but she tells People that they didn't become romantically involved until months later.
"It was very emotionally driven," she says. "I never once thought what I was doing was okay."
