Brian Ching

Brian Ching was left off the 2010 USA World Cup Team. It had seemed like Brain Ching would make the U.S. World Cup Team after the work he put in for Team USA in qualifying for the 2010 World Cup in the first place. He even scored two goals against Barbados in a qualifier, as well as a goal against Trinidad and Tobago, and then Cuba during additional qualifying games. Despite the strong resume, Ching found himself left out in the cold when the coach named the final 23 players that would be making the U.S. roster.
Spokane soccer fans will of course remember Brian Ching as a star of the Gonzaga Bulldogs soccer team for four seasons. He also played for the Spokane Shadow and the Seattle Sounders, and is currently on the Houston Dynamo roster. He played in the 2004 World Cup for Team USA, scoring two goals in the Cup with one against Jamaica and one against El Salvador. It would have seemed that with all that success he was a sure bet to be n the 2010 USA World Cup Team, but that just didn't end up being the case today.
This could be a risky move by Team USA, simply because of the experience and leadership that Ching could have brought to the field, let alone his talent as a soccer player. Hopefully we have not seen the last of Brian Ching in international play for the United States, and that Team USA can still find some success despite this maneuver on Wednesday. Game 1 of the U.S. World Cup action is set for June 12th against England down in South Africa
