With the recent release of her latest album, "I'm Still Here," and a successful stint on VH1's "Celebrity Rehab," country singer Mindy McCready appeared ready to finally leave her personal and legal woes in the rearview mirror.

But Tuesday the 34-year-old was admitted to Cape Coral (Fla.) Hospital's emergency department. A Cape Coral Hospital spokeswoman said McCready was in "good condition," and resting in the emergency department after being admitted at 11:26 Tuesday morning. McCready's attorney James Moon said reports of McCready attempting suicide or overdosing were "irresponsible."

"My understanding is she took a mild pain reliever because she hurt her foot and she had a bad reaction to the medicine," Moon told the Daily News. Moon added that McCready's mother Gayle Inge had a "cautious overreaction" to the situation, but Moon would not confirm if Inge made the 911 call preceding McCready being transported by ambulance to the hospital.

McCready's father Tim, who lives in Cape Coral, told The News, "she took a couple too many pills, but she's alright. She's o.k. - nodding in and out and sleepy, but everything's fine." McCready's brother Josh also downplayed the seriousness of the matter, telling The News that his sister had taken "sleeping meds."

Tim McCready said that his daughter has been staying with McCready's mother Gayle Inge in Ft. Myers the last two weeks. Inge cares for Mindy's 4-year-old son Zander, and is locked in a custody dispute with her daughter. Mindy McCready and Inge did not return calls by The News. Inge took over custody of Zander after McCready violated probation in 2007, stemming from a 2004 prescription fraud charge.

McCready's long-term affair with former Yankee Roger Clemens was exposed by the Daily News in April 2008, two months after the Rocket testified before Congress that he never used performance-enhancing drugs. McCready was interviewed by the FBI later that year in conjunction with Clemens' perjury investigation, and sources have told The News much of the FBI questioning of McCready centered around Clemens' alleged erectile dysfunction, a common side effect among males who have abused steroids. In McCready's sex tape that was released earlier this month, she tells an interviewer that Clemens ED problems were frequent when the two were together. McCready has attempted suicide several times since she became a country music star in 1996, including in December 2008 in Nashville.

During a March visit to Manhattan, McCready told The News she was "great" and excited to get a "do-over" on life.

"I don't consider this a setback," said Moon. "Mindy has stayed in town to be with Zander, put her career on hold to be reunited with her son.
