Junebug

Bluegill fishing on the Winter Haven Chain of Lakes is improving each day.

Use crickets or fresh water shrimp under a cork near shoreline vegetation for good results.

The best lakes for these panfish are Jessie, Hartridge, Cannon, Howard, Eloise, Lulu and Roy.

Largemouth bass fishing is good, with most fish being caught on live wild shiners, and plastic worms fished slowly around cattails and bulrush. Best colors for plastic worms are Junebug, and red shad. For big bass try Lake Summit or Winterset.

Other lakes that are good for bass are Jessie, Hartridge, Cannon, Howard, Lulu, Roy and Eloise.

Catfish are hitting cut bait such as chicken livers, mullet, or cut-up wieners while fishing on the bottom. Other lakes in the Winter Haven area that are doing good are Lake Blue which gave up bass in the 6-pound class during the week.

The bass are being caught right off the grassline while using Junebug colored plastic worms. Live shiners are also producing good size bass in open water.

Bluegills are being caught on crickets and shellcrackers are hitting live wigglers. There is plenty of action in this lake for catfish anglers.

Anglers fishing Lake Silver and Lake Elbert for bluegills are averaging 10 to 20 per angler while using crickets or fresh water shrimp under a cork. Bass fishing is fair in both lakes. Best bet is to use shiners, but if you prefer plastic worms, the best color is Junebug.

Lake Marianna has been giving up some nice size bass while using live shiners at night. There is plenty of action on bluegills using crickets and shellcrackers on live wigglers.

Lake Istokpoga has been producing fair catches of bass while using plastic worms in Junebug and red shad colors.
