Pbgc.Gov.

Another site designed to help Americans recover unclaimed money is in the news today. Public Benefit Guaranty Corporation (pbgc.gov) protects and guarantees most pension plans in the United States, including many of those that have gone bankrupt or closed.

If you’ve had a long work history with several different employers, like many Americans, you may have accrued pension benefits along the way. Unless you’ve been diligent about updating your address with old employers each and every time you've moved or changed jobs, they might have difficulty finding you at retirement. Plus, many companies have merged or gone out of business. This is where PBGC comes in.

Authorities caution that those with unclaimed money should contact PBGC on their own. Don't divulge confidential information like addresses, social security numbers and the like to people calling on the phone claiming to be from this agency. Scam artists are trying to inch their way into agencies like these, posing as former employees collecting lost pensions.

Get more information about unclaimed money in the form of pensions by visiting PBGC.gov.

Who knows? There may be a tidy sum of unclaimed money waiting there with your name on it!
