Calvin Murphy

Call it corroboration if you want to. Calvin Murphy, a former NBA player, has said his sources tell him the rumored affair between LeBron James' mom and Delonte West is indeed true.

Murphy did an interview with an ESPN affiliate in Houston, according to a blog in the Orlando Sentinel, and claimed the story was based on fact after all. Citing what he called reliable sources within the league, Murphy said West and LeBron's mom were indeed hooking up and that "the only people that didn’t know it was happening was LeBron and me."

He also goes on to wonder what will happen to West, noting that he will become one of "these players now that is going to get what they call the old proverbial black ball…I could not imagine me being in that situation and him still being on my team cause one of us is going to be dead and the other one is going to be in jail.”

Jail, of course, is something Murphy almost became closely acquainted with. He has admittedly fathered 14 children by nine different women and once faced charges of sexually abusing five of his daughters.

That doesn't make him a liar. But it does bring into question his character, and whether or not we should believe him in this instance. He claims to have reliable sources within the league, and he no doubt does know many people in the field, but given that nobody else in the mainstream media has jumped on this yet, I'm reserving the right to call Murphy's story BS.

Perhaps he knows something none of us know. But I'm not buying it until I hear it from another source of substance
