Obama's day: Freedom of the press,

 college basketball


This is Oval.In 1954, the Supreme Court handed down one of its most far-reaching rulings, ordering the de-segregation of schools in the case of Brown vs. Board of Education.

It's a low-key schedule for President Obama today. In the morning, he signs the Daniel Pearl Freedom of Press Act, designed to provide more protections for journalists around the world.

Early this afternoon, Obama welcomes the University of Connecticut women's basketball team, which is celebrating its seventh national title.

And in the meantime, Obama and aides will also push the new financial regulation bill currently under debate in the Senate.
