story this season. Bret Michaels has become the big story of the season, on and off screen, given what happened to him. As he fought for his life, he was seen advancing through the show, leaving fans to wonder if he actually made the final two. Since most of the competition was taped months in advance until the finale, NBC and Donald Trump had to keep a lid on Michaels' fate on screen. But last night, it was finally revealed that the Celebrity Apprentice winner will either be Michaels or Holly Robinson Petee.
The penultimate episode last night would reduce the final five contestants to the final two. Right away, Maria Kanellis was sent packing, even before Joan Rivers and Bill Rancic began their exit interviews. This left Curtis Stone, Sharon Osbourne, Peete and Michaels to make their case, before Trump fired two of them.
Both Rivers and Rancic thought Peete should be in the final two, and Trump agreed. But the fan favorite for the Celebrity Apprentice winner 2010 can't be anyone but Bret Michaels after the last few weeks. After Trump fired Stone and Osbourne, Michaels was revealed as one of the final two after all.
Since Michaels was picked months ago as a possible Celebrity Apprentice winner 2010, viewers can only guess at what NBC and Donald Trump were thinking during his brain hemorrhage. If the worst had happened to Michaels, or if he wasn't healthy enough to compete in the finale, they would be left scrambling to fill the two hour live finale. If Peete won by default, then they'd have to think of brand new ways to end the season.
But now that Michaels has recovered, it appears the show has escaped disaster after all. Even if the Celebrity Apprentice winner 2010 isn't Michaels, having him come back as a contestant will be a big event. It may even rival the Lost series finale as the big episode in town this Sunday night, in some circles.
